Together with the Institute of Packaging (IoP), the British Retail Consortium (BRC) defines the standards for suppliers of food packaging materials that have been established as binding by several retail chains. The Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials is the updated fourth version of the BRC / IoP and has been the binding basis for auditing and certification since 1.7.2008. The international standard BRC / IoP enjoys the highest recognition worldwide and is the "leading standard" for food packaging.
The standard has been considerably expanded and tightened with the fourth version. By fulfilling the "BRC / IoP Global Standard" for packaging and packaging material, ABS Packmittel proves that a functioning quality management system is in place. It includes all relevant process controls, hazard analyses and contamination protection as well as a reliable hygiene management based on the HACCP system.
Since 2009 we are BRC IoP certified.

The FSC® system for the certification of forestry was established to ensure responsible forest management. This includes maintaining and improving the economic, ecological and social functions of forest operations. To this end, the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) developed a general and transnational standard consisting of ten principles and criteria.
Since 2013 we are FSC certified.

PEFC is the largest institution for ensuring sustainable forest management through an independent certification system. Wood and wood products bearing the PEFC label demonstrably originate from ecologically, economically and socially sustainable forestry.
PEFC Deutschland e.V. was founded in 1999 and develops the standards and procedures for certification, provides information to the public and grants the rights to the PEFC logo in Germany. PEFC is the most important forest certification system in Germany: With 7.3 million hectares of certified forest area, about two thirds of Germany's forests are already PEFC-certified.
PEFC is a transparent and independent system for ensuring sustainable forest management and thus a kind of worldwide "forest TÜV". The abbreviation PEFC stands for "Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes".
Forest certification according to the standards of PEFC is based on the strict guidelines for the sustainable management of forests. This management is controlled by competent and independent organisations. If a product made of wood bears the PEFC seal, this means that the entire product manufacture - from the raw material to the ready-to-use end product - is certified and controlled by independent experts.
With products bearing the PEFC seal, you can be sure that they come from sustainably managed forests. Local forest management means, for example:
⦁ No more wood is felled than will grow back.
⦁ Where trees have been felled, they are reforested.
⦁ the forest remains a safe habitat for animals and plants.
⦁ The biodiversity of the forest is preserved.
⦁ A sustainably managed forest retains its function as a natural protection of water, soil and climate.
⦁ You have the guarantee of the legal origin of the raw material wood.
⦁ For all forest work, the high standards of occupational safety are observed.
⦁ Employees' rights are respected.
⦁ The rights of people who live from and/or depend on the forest (for example, forest farmers or indigenous peoples in South America) are safeguarded
Since 2014 we are PEFC certified.
